Floating Arts Club Creating Art and Community on the Water

dearest world,

open mic poetry last night - ZAK was awesome!
he’s been coming to Dirty Loads every week - he was so much better this time in front of the crowd, was amazing.

Paul read his San Francisco golden gate park poem. Best I’ve ever seen him - all that training at Dirty Loads has paid off bb!

there’s more pictures at the flickrs. I read the Tiger poem - was kind of rough the first page, got some laughs on the second page, and managed to bring it home.

There were a bunch of other great poets - not going to name check them.

Let me be clear about the FloatingArtsClub.com name check policy - you buy us a drink, or share something wonderful, more then once, you will be named. one drink will not do it. there’s lots of one drink wonders out there - its when someone buys you that third drink or hands you that piece of pizza when you are broke and starvin’ - then we know there is GLORY in you.

like Jacques Korn was not at the poetry event last night - and JACQUES KORN WAS WONDERFUL, EPIC, SUBTLE AND COMMANDING. even when Jacques is not there - he still is the best. why? because he has the Glory. i dont have to imagine this - i’m speaking from my experience.

later that night i rowed - clear night calm water against the tide - and rowed - and rowed - all the way out to the farthest point - with a marion berry pie - delicate crust and deep berry filling.

i was looking for jeff and zeke - had never been on zekes boat, did not know where it was and had no idea if they were even coming out - but the timing was good, saw jeff and zeke rowing together a few minutes later - went over to zekes boat - insane 40 foot french built steel hulled wonder sailboat !! could go anywhere in that boat!! its been around the world already, then fitted out by hard core alaskan mariners.

zeke played guitar - nylon string and then busted out the electric guitar with this sweet amp. incredible songwriter, singer, and very skilled at playing guitar. at one point playing raging lead, a bass line and these atmospheric notes — all at the same time. was a great night, didn’t get to sleep till after 4 am.

then up at 8 am - big storm coming in, sailboat tossing back and forth, rowing against the storm wind, white caps and spray - nathan in a kayak going in at the same time. me yelling that i had done the hard part against the wind - spoke too soon!! - wind shifted had a great workout coming in to shore.
