Floating Arts Club Creating Art and Community on the Water

this morning i looked up from bailing the rain out of my dinghy - and a wooden framed wall floated past me, manned by a lone seagulll.

..

the pelicans were on the shore near the closed coffee shop formerly know as N.P.. maybe they are celebrating the chain being kept off the shoreline? i saw workman in the building yesterday, so maybe a more independent owner will be found?

awwww just look at that big grin! mike is very happy with his new dinghy, brought down from petaluma by his good friend. mike spent most of the past week in his boat on rainbow bay during the storms we’ve had. but he has no idea how the big grey cement sail boat missed us all on its way to landing on the Belvedere shore.

Jaya bought me dinner at sartaj but then had to catch the coach. I went to boat to get laundry - Travis came by and gave Scamp (the row boat) and myself a tow in to the dock which was fun. Travis brought his yamaha nylon string guitar which he let me play. the soft sounds of the nylon strings go well in the Laundromat. Jeff wrote on the bench - then performed while i strummed on the guitar - Dawn staying to listen. Travis read some poems he wrote on a fishing boat.

I got a tarp to make a boom tent from tarps.com and its awesomesauce. will post more, but they have great products / service

Inspired by Richards wheat grass throw rug i have some wheat grass growing in the cockpit. click on the photo to see the roll over notes in flickr.

the Bay Water Trail is moving forward!

The trio of kayakers who paddled five miles across the bay to Point Pinole Regional Shoreline in Richmond on Monday became the first visitors to the first new campground for the Bay Water Trail since California lawmakers authorized its creation in 2005.

Backers of the project have designated 24 sites in Marin they would like to have as part of the network, including Horseshoe Cove near the Golden Gate Bridge, Dunphy Park in Sausalito, Angel Island, Paradise Beach in Tiburon, Loch Lomond in San Rafael and Black Point in Novato.

But finalizing the water trail is at least a year off as the California Coastal Conservancy, which is leading implementation of the trail, works on an environmental impact report.

Stated Goals for Bay Water Trail

The San Francisco Bay Area Water Trail is a network of linked access sites around the Bay.

• Sites are featured that have amenities designed for non-motorized, human-powered watercraft.

• Bay conditions ranging from mild to wild attract users of a wide variety of water craft who come out to play when and where the conditions are to their liking. The Water Trail is for everyone.

• Bay Access provides opportunities for stewardship that foster closer ties between boaters and their environment.

• Bay Access provides an advocacy opportunity for boaters that want more say in site development.
